rostrvm is secured by the means of a root password – this password is entered in the installation and must conform to the customer's security policy.  Passwords are generated based on this root password to protect the installed rostrvm databases – security for these passwords is maintained by restricting access to the physical machine.

The database for systems prior to version 11 is left untouched so any security applied to that database remains as is, and security is applied to the version 11 (or later) database as described here.

It should be noted that rostrvm client applications prior to version 8.0-2 assume that the database is not secured and therefore must be upgraded.
