In addition to the display of system notifications, business related notifications can also be displayed and configured. A business notification is effectively a SQL query on any table in the rostrvm MIS database.
Log Monitor rules can also be defined. These can be set such that if a system notification matches the rule it may be forwarded to an email address or resent via a SysLog message.
Notification Rules Panel
Shows a list of all configured notification rules.
• | Notification Description - a description of the notification rule; |
• | Active - determines whether the rule is activated or not. |
From here you can:
• | Create Notification Rule - click the Create button on the Notification Rules panel to add a new notification rule; |
• | Modify Notification Rule - click on the notification description to view or change the properties of an existing entry. |
Log Monitor Rules Panel
Shows a list of all configured log monitor rules.
• | Rule Description - a textual description for the rule; |
• | Severity - the severity of the system notification to be used to determine a match (e.g. Warning, Fatal Error, Alert Error, etc.); |
• | Message Pattern - the string to be used to compare against each system notification in order to determine a match. The wildcard character * can be included in the pattern; |
• | Email - an email address to which to send any matched system notifications; |
• | SysLog Host - a SysLog host to which to send any matched system notifications. |
The severity and pattern fields are AND'ed, hence both have to match for the system notification to be forwarded.
From here you can:
• | Create Log Monitor Rule - click the Create button on the Log Monitor Rules panel to add a new notification rule; |
• | Modify Log Monitor Rule - click on the monitor rule description to view or change the properties of an existing entry. |
